Description
At Offchain Labs, we’re pioneering what’s possible in the blockchain space, building core infrastructure that powers the Arbitrum Nitro stack, one of the most advanced Ethereum scaling solutions available today. As a Blockchain Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of protocol-level development, designing and deploying production-grade smart contracts. This role is an opportunity to solve novel technical, economic, and social challenges with a world-class team of blockchain researchers, engineers, and product leaders—including direct collaboration with our CTO.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the full lifecycle of smart contract development: specs, prototyping, production code, testing, and audit engagement.
- Work on critical components of the Arbitrum Nitro stack, with an emphasis on security, scalability, and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with the research, product, and leadership teams to implement protocol-level innovations.
- Rigorously test and validate contracts through simulation, fuzzing, and interaction with external auditors.
- Stay on the bleeding edge of blockchain protocol advancements and contribute to open source efforts when relevant.
Who You Are
- Deeply familiar with the Ethereum protocol, EVM internals, and L2 scaling strategies.
- Proficient in Solidity and comfortable with the wider Web3 development ecosystem (e.g., Foundry, Hardhat, ethers.js).
- Security-focused, with a strong awareness of threat vectors and smart contract vulnerabilities.
- A collaborative problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, experimental environment.
- Always seeking improvement — in your code, your tools, and yourself.
- Clear and transparent in communication, with a team-first mindset.
What You’ll Need
- 2+ years of blockchain development experience, ideally at the protocol or infrastructure level.
- Strong CS fundamentals (formal education or self-taught through rigorous hands-on work).
- Experience working with smart contract audits, formal verification, or secure development practices is a big plus.
- A drive to translate cutting-edge research into real-world impact.
Note: If you feel strongly that you have what it takes for this role but don’t check 100% of the boxes—that’s okay—we encourage you to apply anyway and highlight what you can bring to the table.
