Description

We're seeking a dynamic and culturally attuned Social Media Manager to be the voice of Complex Pop Culture across our social platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok). You will drive engagement, growth, and visibility by creating and curating compelling content that resonates with our audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Voice & Execution: Execute the Complex Pop Culture social voice across all platforms, demonstrating excellent judgment and audience sensitivity.
  • Content Creation & Curation: Create, curate, and manage all content for Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram, focusing on streaming and creator culture.
  • Community Management: Lead community management, moderation, and DM management, maintaining the Complex tone and voice.
  • Content Discovery & Pitching: Surface and pitch viral, breaking, and social-friendly content to the news team.
  • Creative Asset Development: Develop creative assets using Photoshop and Premiere/CapCut.
  • Real-Time Content Creation: Ideate, source, and create original real-time content, identifying emerging memes and trends.
  • Social Goal Achievement: Support all social goals (growth, traffic, views, and engagement) and provide vertical-specific tactics and strategic pivots.
  • Platform Best Practices: Track and share social and platform best practices with internal teams.
  • Editorial Social Workflow: Manage the workflow of editorial social posts, coordinating with the branded social team as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years of social media and editorial experience with a publisher or brand.
  • Internet Culture Expertise: Extensive knowledge of internet culture, with a focus on streamers and creators relevant to the Complex audience.
  • Complex Tone & Voice: Deep understanding of the Complex Pop Culture content, voice, and tone.
  • Team Player: Positive, intuitive, proactive, and collaborative team player.
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing and communication skills, proofreading experience, and quick decision-making skills.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work nights and occasional holidays for live event coverage.
  • Industry Knowledge: Robust knowledge of streetwear/fashion and its connection to pop culture, sports, and music.
  • Platform Fluency: Deep understanding and fluency across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
  • Performance Track Record: Proven track record in driving audience and consumer action on social.
  • Competitive Awareness: Remain up-to-date on competitive activities.
  • Self-Management: Self-management skills and a take-charge attitude.
  • Creative Suite Proficiency: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Premiere Pro/CapCut.
