Description

We’re seeking a Gameplay Programmer to join a cross-functional team and build rich, immersive, and tactile gameplay experiences. This role is for a hands-on developer who can combine engineering rigor with creative iteration, working in Unreal Engine 5 to prototype, build, and polish a wide range of player-facing mechanics and systems. You'll touch everything from player abilities and AI behaviors to camera logic, while ensuring your work is performant, scalable, and easy for designers and artists to use.

What You'll Do

  • Implement Gameplay Features: Collaborate with designers and engineers to implement core player mechanics, puzzles, and interactive sequences.
  • Build Robust Systems: Dig deep into Unreal Engine’s core systems—including input, physics, and animation—to build clean and scalable foundations for new gameplay features.
  • Support Multiplayer: Utilize and extend existing systems to implement features with an eye toward multiplayer replication.
  • Collaborate and Debug: Work directly with other programmers to debug issues, refactor systems, and support the overall development pipeline.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years of professional game development experience.
  • Shipped Title: At least one shipped title in Unreal Engine, preferably UE5.
  • C++ & Blueprint: Strong C++ programming skills and a clear understanding of the Blueprint/C++ communication pipeline.
  • Networking: Experience with Unreal’s networking stack for multiplayer games.
  • Unreal Subsystems: Strong familiarity with various Unreal subsystems, including:
    • Animation (Montages, AnimBP)
    • AI (Behavior Trees, EQS)
    • Gameplay Ability System (GAS)
    • Physics
    • Input
  • 3D Math: Proficiency in 3D math, including vector math and linear algebra.
  • Full-Cycle Development: The ability to take a feature from a design document all the way to a shippable implementation.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong debugging and profiling skills, with a self-motivated and collaborative mindset.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience building narrative systems or interactive sequences.
  • Familiarity with horror or first-person puzzle games.
  • Engine-level knowledge of Unreal systems or an interest in core engine work.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment.
